Lou Donaldson is an alto sax player who cut his teeth on bop. Posted is a quiet blues that feels like a seventh inning stretch with an early nightfall. Tenor sax master Sonny Rollins recorded it too, though this live version is a romp of riffs where the melody plays 2nd fiddle to Rollins' fluid dexterity.

What site is this?

This site is an outgrowth of my belief that Christmas songs don't have to suck, put you to sleep or make you want to shove an icicle in your ear.

The goal is to filter out the tired, trite, moldy and manic tunes (sifting out the crud, so you don't have to) and offer stylish remakes, solid standards and cool originals.

This page started as a lark -- as many things do, with a preoccupation that may look to others like a compulsion -- and expanded as the possibilities became obvious that there is a tune for (mostly) everything.
